Craps Myths

Craps is one of the most fast paced and most exciting casino games ever. The concept of game has been around for centuries, even as far back as prehistoric times. People used to play with animal bones then and later dice were created and the game developed with its own set of rules and bets. Now since the game has been around that long, it’s had plenty of time to generate a fair share of myths and superstitions. Well, you can’t help it really; people will do anything and believe anything to make luck favour them when they gamble. So here is a look at some of the most common craps myths.

Let’s start off with the myth about the new players, commonly called craps virgins. People believe that a virgin craps player can bring either good or bad luck to the table. And wouldn’t you know it, the myth has a gender bias. Male virgins bring bad luck and female virgins bring good luck. And believe or not some players actually leave the table if a guy says he’s a new player! So the next time someone says “I’m new to this and want to gamble help me with the rules please” be careful.

Another continuing superstition is that many people stanchly believe in is that you will lose for sure if you open an empty table. The theory is that the dice are cold and the first player has to warm them up and so on and so forth. So basically don’t be the one to start and let someone else do it. At least that’s what the superstition says you should do.

Oh and this one is my favorite. A big no-no at the craps table is saying the word “seven” when someone is rolling. And folks I am not kidding when I say you shouldn’t try this at a live table. You could get beat up by the other players because saying “seven” is really bad luck.
